MOULDING MATERIAL

Formers bobbins and covers are currently available in reinforced nylon 66 to UL94HB, or reinforced nylon 66, flame retardant to UL94VO. Reinforced nylon 66 is a popular choice of material, owing to its excellent thermal and mechanical properties. It withstands class B temperatures (130°C) continuously, and up to 160°C for short periods. Flame retardant reinforced nylon 66 has similar properties to nylon 66 but with a halogen free additive giving it flame retardancy to UL94VO.

SQUARE & ROUND WIRE PIN MATERIAL

Typically we use a Copper Tin alloy (Phosphor Bronze) wire designated CuSn6 specification to DIN 17662, CDA 51900, BS PB103.

Coating materials: 1-2 microns Nickel and 4-6 microns SnPb90/10 "Brightplating"

Solderability: to BS 2011, DIN 40.046, IEC 68-2-20

Methods of terminal retention

Blind Hole Through Hole with 90° Side Leg
BLIND HOLE THROUGH HOLE WITH
90° SIDE LEG

For improved pin retention the wire is 'crimped' to produce an area of upset which on the blind hole method is totally inserted into the bobbin. In the through hole method, the crimp is partially inserted. The crimped area of the pin prevents 'push back' and the 90° bend prevents 'pull out'.

Bobbins can be pinned to any configuration as specified by the customer.

TERMINAL MATERIAL

Typically we use a 0.6mm half card CZ108 Brass.

Coating materials: 1-2 microns Nickel and 4-6 microns SnPb 90/10 "Brightplating".

Solderability: To BS 2011, DIN 40.046, IEC 68-2-20

Methods of terminal retention

Their terminals have a barbed effect, which when inserted into the bobbin ensures a firm fitting.

Bobbins can be terminated to any configuration as specified by the customer.
